Suite 303

Suite 303 is the hair salon located at the infamous Chelsea Hotel. Clients read like a long list of rock legends including the U2 crew, to actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Adrien Brody, and regularly styling Rolling Stone covers.

Matthew Modine, Actor
"It's called 'suite' 'cause that's what it is, you dig what I'm sayin'? How is it April snips love into a haircut? Weird? Yeah, wonderful? You betcha. The whole deal is fucking sexy!"

Bridget Goodbody, Art Critic

It's the most fun salon in the entire world to hang out in. Nobody does color like April. She is an artist when it comes to painting hair.

Lynda Downey, Shop Owner

Suite 303 rocks my world. It's such a warm and caring environment. They play the best music and April is supreme.

Three Lives & Company

One of the greatest bookstores on the face of the Earth. Every single person who works there is incredibly knowledgeable and well read and full of soul. You can walk in and ask anybody, really, what they've read lately and they'll tell you something - very likely something you've never heard of. [But] it's always going to be something interesting and fabulous. I go there when I'm feeling depressed and discouraged, and I always feel rejuvenated.

- Michael Cunningham,
winner of the 1999
Pulitzer Prize for Fiction

Three Lives and Company is an independent neighborhood bookstore that is truly one of a kind . But don't go there and expect to get a new best-seller, there's a big chance they wont have it yet, but at Three Lives and Company you're willing to wait three weeks for them to get it even if you can go somewhere else and buy it right away.

Fried Green Tomatoes Recipe

3 medium, firm green tomatoes
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup milk
2 beaten eggs
2/3 cup fine dry bread crumbs or cornmeal
1/4 cup olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

1 Cut unpeeled tomatoes into 1/2 inch slices. Sprinkle slices with salt and pepper. Let tomato slices stand for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, place flour, milk, eggs, and bread crumbs in separate shallow dishes.

2 Heat 2 Tbsp of olive oil in a skillet on medium heat. Dip tomato slices in milk, then flour, then eggs, then bread crumbs. In the skillet, fry half of the coated tomato slices at a time, for 4-6 minutes on each side or until brown. As you cook the rest of the tomatoes, add olive oil as needed. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Hans

Hans Matheson has been the 'it' for me now for quite some time... Here's why:

Can't explain it further but he is really holding on there.

... see any film he has been in for further explanation.

(note to self: more info required about him)

It was "Les Miserables" that did me in...

5 Reasons to see John Mayer in Concert [like I needed them]:

1. He's pretty funny. He put on a bear costume and harassed his own fans on "John Mayer Has a TV Show" and helped Dave Chappelle demonstrate the effects guitar music has on white people on "Chappelle's Show." His "Music Lessons" column for "Esquire" has some good laughs.

2. That "Edward Scissorhands" look. Back in February Mayer showed up at the Grammys looking like Johnny Depp circa 1991. Once you get beyond the "WTF?" factor, you have to respect the seemingly bland Mayer for taking a chance like that. You think Dave Matthews or Jason Mraz would attempt the goth look?

3. Ladies love him. Guys, if you don't see a single 20- or 30something woman Monday it's because they're all at Mayer's show. Mayer has dated Jennifer Love Hewitt, Heidi Klum and Jessica Simpson. It's like he's trying to assemble his own version of Charlie's Angels. Maybe that's a reason to hate him.

4. John Mayer is street. Mayer has collaborated with rappers Kanye West, Nelly and Common. Jay-Z and Pharrell Williams have both expressed admiration for Mayer's music. On "John Mayer Has a TV Show" the singer took rapper Trick Daddy on a tour of Nashville.

5. He really can play. If you ignore the fact that "Your Body is a Wonderland" is one of the worst "I'm blatantly trying to get laid" songs of all time, Mayer's other material shows some talent. Check out the John Mayer Trio album "Try!," focusing more on blues than his usual acoustic fare.
